The tank must be installed on a perfectly flat base so that there are no gaps below the tank. The tank bases must be made of concrete, steel mesh, or a base surface, so that these bases are perfectly level. Especially when installing a steel mesh, a layer of plaster must be applied to the mesh, at least 5 mm thick.
The openings for the tank are made by using a multi-gauge drill to open the tanks. A galvanized steel nipple (old) must be installed, or a galvanized or stainless steel nipple, or PVC. The nipple includes 2 oars + 2 roses + 2 joysticks, so the nipple is installed from inside and outside the tank. It is recommended not to make openings in the tank bottom because this negatively affects the tank’s lifetime; there are specific places in the tank body for making those openings.
The tank is emptied of water, leaving 10 to 15 cm of water in the tank. 100 grams of sterilization powder (chlorobounder) are dissolved in a jug containing half the water and stirred well until dissolved. The tank cap is closed to prevent high-chlorine water from seeping through the pipes because its use is dangerous to public health. The water containing chlorine is added to the tank water and the tank walls and ceiling are washed with water using a brush or plastic. The use of wire brushes is prohibited to avoid damaging the tank walls. The washing water is drained through the tank bottom (washing hole). The tank is rinsed with water more than once to remove the effect of the chlorine and expelled each time through the washing hole. The tank is refilled with water and left to stand for two hours before opening the lock leading to the apartments to ensure that no traces of chlorine remain in the water before use. For human consumption, this process is repeated every three months as a minimum.
It is advised not to leave the tanks exposed to the sun for longer than a month without use. During installation, the plugs and pipes must be removed and not installed in the ground until the tanks are filled; as tanks expand with filling and contract with emptying, when the tank expands with filling, the pipes installed on the outlet are compressed, causing a crack in that opening. When removing the tanks from the vehicle, it is important not to hit the ground with excessive force. When maintaining the tanks, it is prohibited to insert a steel ladder into the tank, which causes erosion of the tank bottom from the effects of the steel ladder.
